Japan's enterprise culture—characterized by consensus-driven decision-making (nemawashi), strict internal audit requirements, and a high bar for operational accountability—creates a unique set of challenges when rolling out AI agents at scale. Through hands-on deployments across Japanese organizations, we identified a critical gap: agent adoption stalls not because of technology resistance, but because of trust infrastructure that current MCP specifications do not yet fully address.
This talk shares concrete lessons from the field: what organizational patterns accelerate adoption, where human-agent handoff design makes or breaks rollout, and why governance and auditability features are non-negotiable in this market. More importantly, we propose specific MCP capability gaps—around permission granularity, audit trails, and human-in-the-loop controls—that the community should prioritize to unlock enterprise adoption not just in Japan, but globally.
